All these details and many more can lead readers, young and adult alike, to take a closer look at what they notice about the world — and therefore, themselves.

The world is full of numbers, details, and beautiful things to observe. But what do you take particular note of? What do you find the most interesting or worthy of being measured, documented, and drawn? What you choose to notice can teach you a lot about who you are and what you care about.

As you flip through the pages, the main character initially shows up as a simple empty circle. As they observe how they feel, what they notice during their days, their favorite activities, magic stories and interactions with their friends, the character develops visual features: colorful symbols, data visualizations that are unique to them and only them.
I have always always wanted to translate #datahumanism into something accessible for young people and especially children so they can start to understand what data is and how paying attention to the world one data point at a time leads to beautiful insights.
